Per the Emergency Management Plan, it is CARTA’s role to support evacuations as directed by Charleston County. All evacuation notices and information will be disseminated by the Emergency Operation Center staff.
The 2017 Charleston County Hurricane Guide (starting on page 24) displays all pick-up points where residents can receive a ride to the nearest available shelter, as conditions permit. These stops may be serviced by non-CARTA buses, depending on timing and location. It is recommended that individuals familiarize themselves with the guide and identify the pick-up point closest their location. (These points are indicated by blue hurricane signs.) Contact the Charleston County Emergency Public Information Line at (843) 746-3900 for assistance.
Please note: CARTA will cease all operations sometime on Sept. 9 should an expected mandatory evacuation be given, at which point we will be unable to further assist residents until given the go-ahead to proceed.
